Carmen Jones: This is a re-telling of the famous opera Carmen. It's set in the south around WWII (I think). The music is from Carmen but the lyrics aren't and they're a bit streched sometimes. I've never seen the opera but I thought this was alright.

Thoroughly Modern Millie: I love this movie, it is absolutly a classic. Julie Andrews heads off the cast of this madcap musical. It's set in the roaring 20s and the music and dancing, etc. are all wonderful. There has been a broadway adaptation of this movie but I believe a lot of the music has been changed, I don't know how the plot fares. I love this movie though and would whole heartedly reccomend it.

Dreamgirls: This movie was... I still haven't decided if I liked it or not but the music was quite good. Dreamgirls follows the story of a girls soul singing group the Dreams and their road to and through stardom. The movie looks at both the pretty side and the ugly side of show business.

War and Peace: I haven't read the book by Tolstoy, nor do intend to but I think that it might be quicker to read the book than it was to watch the movie - it was ghastly! To be fair some of the acting was very good, and some really was not but just the length of the movie and the pace of it was painful. Audrey Hepburn was among those who acted well, Henry Fonda was woefully miss cast.
