Iron Lady: I heard this movie was very good and so I wanted to see it, I don't think I'd even seen any previews, just heard the oscar talk. This movie was quite good, even though all I knew about Margaret Thatcher previously is that she was the first woman to be prime minister. I'm sure there's more to appreciate about the movie if you know more about Margaret Thatcher but I thought it was quite good and that Meryl Steep did a wonderful job. I did not expect though to be moved to emotion by a biopic about a British politician but I was.

Mao's Last Dancer: Apparently this movie was based on the autobiography of the main character, about his life, being taken to Madam Mao's dance school at age 11 or so, to be trained as a communist and a ballet dancer, later to get to go to America and to defect to the west and become a famous dancer. At first I wondered how much American slant was being given to the communists as the bad guys and the American's as the good guys, finding out that it was an autobiography I feel like if it is a slant, that it's at least more justified. It's very interesting to consider a life so wholly different from mine or any around me. Ps beautiful dancing.

Julie and Julia: I quite enjoyed this movie, it was interesting, sweet and way funnier than I thought. Kudos to Meryl Streep on her Julia Child, she didn't nail the voice 100% but I'm not really sure that anyone could. Or mayber I just know voice better from when she was older and more warbely. Either way I reccomend it, there were multiple points of laughing out loud.

Mamma Mia: This movie is a collection of ABBA songs thrown together with a plot, based off of the Broadway musical. I've never seen the musical and so I don't know how it compares but I have heard the soundtrack from the original cast and the singing's much better in the soundtrack. If you watch this you can't be expecting a phenomenal plot, you have to take it for what it is, a plot built around some unrelated ABBA hits. I like being able to see the story in the movie, that can be hard to get from just a soundtrack. Over all I'm not largely impressed with the movie, the acting's pretty good (Meryl Streep, Colin Firth...) but the singing leaves a lot to be desired in most cases. I wish that Pierce Brosnen hadn't been cast because he's sketchy as a singer and not a great actor even in action movies... Anyway that's what I think about this movie.

Mr. Deeds Goes to Town: This is the movie that Mr. Deeds was based off. I've never seen Mr. Deeds, but I'm inclined to think that this movie is better, but to each their own. This movie was directed by Frank Cappra and stars Gary Cooper and Jean Arthur. Mr. Longfellow Deeds of a small town in Vermont has just inherited 20 million dollars and has to adjust to a fantastic new life in New York. I really enjoyed the messages of this movie, they were by no means subtle, however I believe they are very much needed. This movie talks about kindness towards fellowman and about being satisfied with enough, not always wanting more. It's not my favorite movie ever but it is a good one.

Casablanca: So the AFI named Citizen Kane as their number one film and Casablanca as number two, if I did it I don't think that I'd put Citizen Kane on the list at all and Casablanca would most deffinatly be number one. Casablanca was a serindipitous movie where dispite being writen as it was being filmed and noone knowing what the ending would be, everything sort of worked out and it's still a classic today. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman both shine in this movie, but not alone, I've come to believe that in a great movie there's also a great cast of minor characters and this Casablanca has in Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreets, Claude Rains and others who's names I don't know. I love this movie and think that everyone should see it, it's got action, drama, comedy, romance, it's wonderful. Favorite line: "Are my eyes really brown?"

A Series of Unfortunate Events: Let me start of by clarifying that I have no interest in the books whatsoever; I was drawn to this movie because Jim Carey was in it. This is a very funny movie, there are great actors in it like Jim Carey and Meryl Streep. Carey plays multiple characters, all of which are superb. I like it, but I don't love it as I do some other movies.

Gigi: This is an older musical about a group of Parisians, lovers and mistresses...that might not be the right term but anyway... It's a sweet little story, nothing earth shaking, but amusing, it's a nice comforting sort of movie, one just to enjoy and not worry about anything too much. Despite the lovers and mistresses it's not inappropriate. I quite enjoy this movie every time I see it.

Back To The Future: This is an awesome, crazy, funny, 80s movie. Michael J. Fox goes back in time and sees his parents when they were his age. He has to get them together or he won't exist in the future. It's a fun movie.
